NEET - UG examination is conducted in India for admission to undergraduate programs in Medicine and Dentistry. All medical colleges in India are mandated by the National Medical Council of India (NMC) to select students based on their performance in this examination. Students who have not taken NEET are not eligible to pursue programs in Medicine and Dentistry in India.

NEET UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Undergraduate) is the only entrance examination in India for admission into MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, Veterinary, and other medical courses at any medical college in India. It is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
*As per NTA guidelines, students must:
Be at least 17 years of age by December 31 of the admission year
Have passed or is appearing in 12th standard with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English
Have secured a minimum of 50% marks (40% for SC/ST/OBC) in PCB subjects (for General category)*
*NEET UG is a single paper with 180 questions, of which 180 need to be answered:
Be at least 17 years of age by December 31 of the admission year
Chemistry – 45 questions
Biology (Botany + Zoology) – 90 questions (45+45)
Each correct answer gives 4 marks; 1 mark is deducted for each wrong answer.*
NEET UG is conducted in offline mode (pen and paper-based). Students have to mark their answers on an OMR sheet.
There is no attempt limit for NEET UG as long as the candidate meets the age and eligibility criteria.

An NRI (Non-Resident Indian) is an Indian citizen residing outside India for education, employment, or business purposes. NRI students are eligible for NRI quota seats in medical colleges in India.
Yes. NRI, OCI, PIO, and foreign nationals are eligible to appear for NEET UG, provided they meet the eligibility criteria like PCB subjects in Class 12 and minimum marks and have qualified from a recognized Board.
Yes. NEET UG qualification is mandatory for all NRI/OCI/PIO students who wish to take admission in MBBS/BDS courses in India, even under the NRI quota or management quota.
